For over 30 years, Alan has been a Leader in the Gas Transmission and Power Generation industries. Using a strong focus on failure and root cause analysis, Alan has spent almost his entire career in leadership positions developing risk based engineering approaches to maximize safety and reliability, while optimizing costs. Alan’s leadership in the industry was very pivotal in working with OPS and other key industry leaders to craft the recent Gas Transmission Integrity Management rule. Specifically, Alan lead the effort of developing the first External Corrosion Direct Assessment (ECDA) procedure, and used several demonstration projects with federal and state regulatory and industry participation to gain buy-in on the best practices associated with Direct Assessment (DA). At the request of OPS, Alan authored and produced a well known ECDA video. Over the last 7 years Alan has provided Integrity Management training to Federal and State auditors as part of PHMSA’s training staff at their facility in Oklahoma City.
